I am a visual artist currently supported by Somerset Art Works as part of their creative pathway’s bursary. My practice explores the importance of having access to wild spaces and undeveloped land. I investigate the impacts that mass building new houses has on communities and the environment. I work with residents, in Frome and its surrounding villages to explore feelings of eco-grief towards our rapidly vanishing green spaces.
In 2022 I started a project titled Solastalgia to create spaces for people to express their eco-grief and reflect on how climate change is affecting their mental health. The project started as an environmental arts magazine that features artists and writers exploring climate change or natural environments. Solastalgia has now grown into a series of workshops that use creative practice to explore climate emotions. The workshops are an opportunity for me to work with people in the community to find out how others are affected by eco-grief and bring people together to help us feel less alone in the sadness climate breakdown and the battle for change.
